Lower Lias or Blue Lias are different names used for the same formation. It is exposed along what is know as England's Jurassic Coast and South Wales. Between 195 and 200 million years ago, it was the muddy floor of a shallow marine environment teaming with ammonites and other latest Triassic and Early Jurassic sea creatures.
